Right in between Jungle and Drum and Bass sits this excellent piece of breakbeat wizardry. The free album by Evasion, Conman & Mod:Co Perfectly shows how heavy basslines can be. With a timeless sound design it shows versatility and sounds classic but still futuristic. The Polish label Offish is also offering all their digital releases for free. APHELION 2023 – Ohm Resistance

Hell yeah, here’s the next completely free release for you. This compilation on Ohm Resistance from Estonia comes with a whopping 23 tracks ranging from Drum and Bass to Crossbreed, some Hardcore, but also very slow and sludgy electronics. Give it a listen and maybe consider donating a few bucks, if you want to support the label. APHELION 2023 by Various Artists

THE TEKNOIST – FMB MIXTAPE SERIES 228

This is definitely a true X-Mess gift. The Teknoist recorded an outstanding mix. The tracklist primarily deals with breakbeats within the higher BPM range. But there are also lots of kicks smashed together, so no worries, you’ll get what you want. Moreover, there’s an interview with the Teknoist on Feel My Biceps. In this interview, he talks about his DJ setup and what he’s up to. Apparently, you can only download the mixtape from the FMB homepage. Darkmatter, USA / 5lowershop, USA / Saturnalia Festival, It | Mix | 2018

The next mix is really fallen out of time. Well, literally… It is a recording of a DJ Scud set from 2018 and seriously breathtaking. You’ll have a hard time finding anything that compares to this. I’m very impressed by this incredible piece of art. The progression of the mix is so nice, it’s really pushing boundaries. Sure, it’s partially very experimental, but isn’t that also what we’re here for? Apart from this mix, it’s also highly recommended to check out his other sets on soundcloud. There’s a lot of cool stuff to discover. The sets a very thoughtful und […]

PRSPCT PDCST 090 – Li-Z live at PRSPCT XL32

The latest PRSPCT podcast is a live recording from PRSPCT XL earlier this month. As always, Li-Z delivers pretty neat transitions with all the weird music in the world you can find. Her mix really shines thanks to her extraordinary great taste. Especially the breakbeat lovers will enjoy this, but not only them. There’s also a lot hammering hardcore in it, too 😊 PRSPCT Recordings · PRSPCT PDCST 090 – Li-Z live at PRSPCT XL32 Hellfish – Severe BreakageAnna Morgan – GraceErik Burka – VentspillHeadbanger – Sweet DreamsThys, Nicholas Thayer – Go AgainJuggernaut – XTC MotherfuckerEprom – RemorseSamurai Breaks – […]

MARTSMAN – Spoor

There is no doubt that AI penetrates everything nowadays and music is no exception to that. But this of course can mean so much. AI as a tool offers many new interesting approaches to music creation. This can lead to many results, but in the end we are here for the weird shit. So that’s why you get weird shit. Martsman provides us with one excellent example to show you how far you can go already. For this release Martsman used Realtime Audio Variational autoEncoder (RAVE). Briefly explained, you feed music to RAVE and it learns from it. The program […]

Somatic Responses – Doomsday Conduit

Doomsday Conduit on Acroplane Records is the latest installment by the brothers Paul & John Healy better known as Somatic Responses. As usual they show great taste in heavily distorted soundscapes mixed with some of the strangest acid lines you’ve heard so far. And of course, not to forget their breakbeat-wizardry that really drives the tracks through several dimensions. The album is an insane trip with 10 equally enjoyable chapters which all sound very inviting – and always different. Some of these chapters are darker and rougher than others, but in general the overall theme appears to be very glitchy […]

PAUL BLACKOUT @ Estentorian Podcast 38 (31-8-2023)

It’s so good to hear some new – well, or to be precise old – stuff from Paul Blackout. This highly gifted DJ has not only an unprecedented taste in music, he also has the skills to knock out any other DJ. The mix is labelled on Soundcloud as early Crossbreed, but it’s definitely more than that! Only bangers ahead, so buckle up! Alzoc III – U Devilz EP

Every now and then everybody needs some quality roughneck Ragga Jungle tunes. Alzoc III is not only a fictional planet, it’s also the alter ego of Vincent van Sloth, who’s widely known for his Breakcore fever dreams. In stark contrast to his previous releases, this release on UKJ, goes back to more classic breakbeat mutilation business and sounds like an authentic mid 90s piece of jungle. The release is at least as massive as 3 times the Mount Everest, but maybe a bit more approachable. Or is it? UK Jungle Presents: Alzoc III – U Devilz EP by Alzoc III

Fuk the borders V.A. vol.9

After 15 Years in the Business, Suck Puck Records celebrates its very own existence with the already 9th installment of the Fuk the Borders series. As you may expect already, the Compilation features everything relentless breakbeat music has to offer. It has a little bit of everything. Literally everything… The compilation offers more or less classic Jungle vibes, as well as super happy breaks, bouncy beats, but also grim and glitchy pieces that don’t fit any formula at all. For 7 Bucks it’s a steal, so consider buying that stuff! It also comes with great artwork which is available as […]

Bong-Ra – Vaseline

The most recent release by Bong-Ra represents a beautiful take on dark Jungle. The breaks are super solid and well programmed, the synths sound grim and fierce, and the overall sound design brings happiness to our dark hearts. This is not an “in-your-face” release, it’s even a bit reserved. A thoughtful approach to discover the essence of true dark Jungle Breaks. Vaseline by Bong-Ra

Ars Dada & Dr. Roman – Freshly Baked Raggamuffins

As you may already can tell from the name of the release, Ars Dada & Dr. Roman bring Ragga Jungle to its extremes. This release on Murder Channel features 4 vocal-heavy Ragga Jungle blends that fit every set. In addition, you can get the release for free or have to pay at least 140 Yen (around 1€) to add it to your bandcamp account. Freshly Baked Raggamuffins by Ars Dada & Dr. Roman

Deformer – See, Hear, Scream!

For our 200th post we have something very special for you. Lot’s of people are crazy ingenious when it comes to mutilating breakbeats, distorting kickdrums and most importantly disturbing the peace. But even if there are many great producers out there, nobody does it like Deformer. This guy offers a whole universe of aesthetic, atheist aggression which remains unmatched. His album “See, Hear, Scream” is more than an “album”, it’s a best of and beyond. A showcase of Deformer’s musical endeavors which already have started in 1993. It’s unbelievable how much these productions stick out even when it comes to […]

Slave to Society – Distorted Thoughts EP

It’s becoming increasingly rare that you listen to a release and think: Wow, that’s something else, but it still feels familiar. And I think this is what Slave to Society achieved here. The release sounds really fresh even though it heavily feasts on the sound of hard Drum and Bass, Jungle and Core abominations. It’s an innovative release that features not necessarily only dancefloor material, instead it offers cozy soundscapes you want to wrap around your body like a warm cover. Yeah, or whatever makes you feel comfortable. It feels unique, not just formulary as a lot of modern electronic […]

Radical Boombox by Laxenanchaos

The Japanese Artist Laxenanchaos released with Radical Boombox a pretty impressive and highly diverse release on Suck Puck Recordz. It’s impossible to describe the album with only one genre, according to the label it features “14 tunes in IDM, Acidcore, Footwork, Jungle, Breakcore, Juke, Experimental styles”. You’ll get tons of distorted kick drums, chopped breakbeats and frenetic 303ish sounds. If you are into that stuff, you can buy the whole album for only 5 € or 7 € if you want a selfmade DiY CD (limitied to 50 pieces). Since the album is so diverse und unpredictable it’s recommended for […]

FFF live-set Insel Jena 3.11.2017

Everything we missed since February…

Ok, we are sorry… Yeah admittedly, we thought that we will update this page on a more regular basis. But better late than never. Btw. if anyone is actually reading this, drop a message or let us know that there are people out there reading our crap. But let’s come back to business. We missed to post a shitload of mixes and other stuff. From now on, we will take care of it again. For how long and how regularly is not specified… Just imagine that we are no useless pricks (we know that it is hard to imagine such […]

Fractal Takeover @ Bangface Weekender 2016 by Fractal D&B

We already posted the Dataklysm mix from the Bangface weekender. Here we found some further Bangface mixes which we can still recommend to you. On hearthis.at Fractal posted 5 mixes by Wit!?, LSD-Licious, Skanky Ho, Killabomb and Cun7. The styles are varying, but everyone should find her or his piece of the pie. Instead of posting every single set here, I’ve linked their sets to their names. So here you go with this great impression of the life of a breakcore asshole 🙂 Faithfully stolen from fractal’s facebook page!   https://www.facebook.com/FractalDnB/

Some Mixes

We need some content! Therefore I made small collection of mixtapes. In my opinion they can be seen as some of the best tapes of the last years. Of course this list isn’t complete and not to be taken seriously, though it is a start. Especially those of you who are searching for some new mixes will be glad to have this list. Our idea is to post single sets with some feedback, you’ll see later that theses feedbacks will be much more extensive. Further, we always welcome unknown DJs. Leave a message if you think your tape might fit […]
